It's too bad the recording equipment can't reproduce how that opening sounded live. I saw it at the U of A Band Day way back when...

@DeuceDeuceDrmmr Because there isn't enough time for that. If you want concert music on the field, look at DCi corps. College marching bands don't have enough time to get music that takes dedicated corps most of the summer to a near perfect/presentable level. We get about 3 hours 4 times a week (and that was just this semester) that leads up to band day in October. While it is possible to get complex stuff for marching band, it is also possible to ask too much of even a top 5 band like this.

If our school regularly did shows based on rock groups chances are I wouldn't have quit. Awesome!

@orpheustic -- This is really random, but I was watching this video tonight and saw your comment. I was the DM (yes, it was Rituper before I got married). Thanks for your nice comments!

isnt it? Why should the music of outdoors not call for the same artistry and quality of design and execution as the concert stage? You can play great, high-end arrangements well and still be entertaining.

Lol!
Aww
This isn't a concert band... It's not supposed to have complex melodies. It's a marching band. It's supposed to be loud, catchy, and most of all, entertaining.
