I don't know when the song was first recorded. It was released as a slightly shortened single in the spring of 1970. Bigmarty56 is right there is information connecting this song to the Pueblo incident. Although I did the video in relationship to the Philadelphia Experiment. Ostensibly this was about the USS Pueblo, a spy ship captured by the N. Koreans for being in in their 50 mile boundary or whatever. Cmdr Bucher got thrown under the bus "by his friends" and the prez Good old LBJ did zip nadda to get them back. After 11 months of torture etc, they finally were released. And some idiot wanted to court marshal Bucher, who many years later died from an illness related to his injuries. Chaffee told them to shove it.

Amazing song. When I was growing up in the late 60's and early 70's I spent a lot of time at the roller rink. Now as I am old man, I still associate great music while skating....I hate getting old.
