  • @ShortbusSuicide .. You can contact any Marine Corps Family Team Building (MCFTB) office for assistance. In particular, you can call 757-445-6875, located in Norfolk VA and I'm certain that office will assist you.

  • Sorry about the sign in name on the last comment. I was on someone else's acct. and didn't realize it!

  • I was informed about the FRO when my son graduated from SOI. I contact the unit he was assigned to and there was no reply. Found out about 3 weeks later that unit had no FRO. NO help for this family when our Marine was deployed. How do I find out if the position has been filled? I spend hours searching the net for any info. regarding his unit but can"t find any.

  • There are a few FRO's out there that actually try to do their job, but there are too many out there milking the system. I watched a FRO go to lunch with two other FRO's and drink alcohol, then go back to work. There is so much abuse of time off and just plain not doing what is in their position description. The other issue of having a FRO is that it takes away from what the SNCO should be doing and that is taking care of the Marines under his/her charge to include their families.

  • Thank you for your consideration into my remarks. If no one tells you that there are issues, then you cannot truly make a difference. Know that I am in no way making disparaging remarks, only honest and from the heart so that we really can work together in the best interest of our families. My hope is that we can make this program even better for our deployed troops and their loved ones.

  • There are other spouses who do not even get the emails. We have reported this numerous times, but still have the same issue. There are also a number of us who have volunteered to help call spouses to ensure that we have good info on them, but have yet to be contacted to do so. When the mass communication was used, there were a number of people who replied that were not even connected with the Corps. This exemplifies the fact that we indeed do not have good info in the first place. Cont

  • While FRO's plan events, there is no paid postition that will replace another spouse contacting you during deployment. While I fully understand privacy issues, we may have become counterproductive. If spouses who have gone thru proper training are utilized, we have a better chance of reaching all spouses and ensuring that they at least know that they have someone to reach out to if they need to. My Marine has been gone for over three months now. I still cannot get the full FRO emails. Cont.

  • Gen and Mrs Amos, As a Marine Corps Veteran myself and having stayed behind for more deployments than I cared to, I would implore you both to look at the FRO program closely. While on paper, its a solid program, in implementation we are failing our young spouses of deployed service members. While in garrison, this is a wonderful way to involve families and make them feel a part of their service members' workplace. During depoyments, however, it would be extremely helpful to supplement. Con't.
