Summary of (alleged) Facts:
FARC guerrillas ( from FARC's Mariscal Sucre front ) gave a homeless woman a bomb to attack a police station in the south of Colombia. The woman was sent to deliver a package ( the bomb) to the police station. FARC guerrilla(s) activated the bomb when she arrived. The woman died immediately, 14 other people were injured.
Look at the article's title, which appears as a conclusive statement for the entire world to read:
News item heading reads:
'FARC use homeless woman as human bomb:authorities'
This heading in bold font is nothing but an assertion appearing as the truth. Never accept anything as the truth. You need all the evidence in front of you, before you can even consider whether it's the truth or not.
Q: Firstly, what the picture all about? (video still?)
A police vehicle, nothing more? Who took it and when? How is it relevant to the incident? Is the picture the location where the bombing took place? Or, is it assumed you will think it is? Picture has Canal Caracol- a Colombian TV station on it, so what? The picture really indicates nothing.
Who provided the information for the news item?
News item uses: authorities and 'According to police sources...' (at para. 3)
Would you trust Colombian authorities as a reliable impartial, and independent source of information? Remember, the Colombian government, with US assistance, have been trying to annihilate the FARC for decades, right?
police sources are never identified in news item (Protection of witness identities issues etc).
Who was the bomber?
What was her(?) background, age, was she a guerrilla, a suicide bomber, or not, an innocent victim? She was homeless? Was the bomb planted on the woman OR did she accept it voluntarily knowing it was a bomb? There is a significant difference. News item states '... the bomb was given to the woman by guerrillas...'. Inference is? She knew what it was and accepted it? News item states bomb was given to the woman by guerrillas from FARC, really?. Who witnessed '... guerrillas of, specifically, the FARC's Mariscal Sucre front... ' do this? And, who saw these guerrillas, or, one of them, activate the bomb- when the woman arrived at the target? How was the bomb activated? Who saw that? Any proof?
How do they know this woman died immediately? Who witnessed her death? Have you seen her death certificate? Or you just assume she's dead?
Who witnessed the incident?
What did they see? What were the conditions like at the time, dark? What did they hear? Who heard what? What exactly was said, and by whom? With what degree of specificity? For how many seconds, minutes, or hours, did they witness the incident? Only a fleeting glimpse? How reliable are these police sources? How can their credibility, veracity, ever be tested, in a court? Are any of them bias against organizations such as FARC? What are their backgrounds, their political affiliations, etc? Do you know?
14 others were injured (not killed) authorities say. You assume this is correct? Was it 14? What injuries exactly, how serious? Seen any medical reports? Or you just assume news item is accurate?
drug-trafficking gangs?
News item asserts that FARC and ELN are both drug-trafficking gangs. But how is this relevant to bombing a police station? What's the link here, the connection is? It's never explained in the news item itself. Niether does the news item provide a shred of evidence to support the claim they are drug-trafficking gangs
only one side of the story presented
Crucially, why is there no reply from FARC in relation to the incident? News item presents only one side of the story. Highly suspect. Bad journalism.
It is pathetic how FARC makes this crappy video to show how ¨ sensationalist media¨ is against them. haha I didn´t even know about that news item, but who cares! you should make a video justifying every kidnapping, every dead human, all the damage against the nation and the people across 50 years of unsuccessful war, even justifying stupid articles you will NEVER make people think FARC is the army of the people because it´s ridiculous, FARC is just a Cancer of the society, nothing else.
