I remember school letting out for a couple of weeks so all the kids could pick potatoes. I was 5 when I started working, for my Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Otti Hunt of Sherman, ME. My Dad would drop us off on his way to work and pick us up in the evening. It didn't hurt me one bit, actually I liked to do it. Now, kids at 5 are playing video games and watching tv, forget about them working all day!
I loved this potato picking video....I was looking for my brother, Richard Bubar! He was a lousy picker but he sure did like working on the back of the truck and then driving it! On the really frosty a.m.'s, my dad, Perley, would let the men hit a empty barrel and then we could have a fire to warm up our fingers! Thanks for the great photos....Betty Lou Bubar Collins
