Art photos of Cher and her then husband Gregg Allman made from the cover photo of the only
album they recorded as a duo. Along with the song "Island" the only solo recording by Cher that appears on the album. Allman and Woman: Two The Hard Way was recorded in 1977 on Warner Brother's Records, the album contained a wide mix of bluesy, southern rock tinged music.
Here is a track listing...
Song List (LP)
Move Me (LP side 1 (2:57)
I Found You, Love (LP 3:55)
Can You Fool (LP 3:19)
You're Really Got A Hold On Me (LP 3:16)

Do What You Gotta Do (LP 3:27)
In For The Night (LP side 2 3:30)
Shadow Dream Song (LP 3:43)
Island (LP 4:26)
I Love Makin' Love To You (LP 3:51)
Love Me (LP 2:49)
Cher and Gregg dedicated the album to
Cher's daughter Chastity and Cher and Gregg's new born son Elijah Blue Allman. Their stormy marriage was on the cover of every tabloid at the time. Caused by Cher filing for divorce nine days, after marrying on a whim at Harrah's Las Vegas. Cher had been contacted by Bill Harrah that week and he had offered the use of his jet, if Cher wanted to come to Vegas that weekend, as Cher had made a large sum of money as a Vegas headliner and always drew a packed house when she played Las Vegas. Bill Harrah was trying to woo Cher into signing a contract to perform at Harrah's properties. Thus the offer of the "Free Plane" trip to Vegas. Cher took Mr. Harrah up on his offer of a free plane trip and asked Gregg if he wanted to fly to Vegas for the weekend and get married. He said yes and they did. Their divorce was finalized in 1979 but they seperated for good after two years because of Gregg's addiction to heroin and alchohol. Cher later said she married Gregg because she knew he could not control her the way Sonny did as he could not control himself. He often left a note that he had to go out for ciggarettes, and would return a week later. Cher also loved him very much.

Back to the album "Allman and Woman: Two The Hard Way......
It has never been release on cd, as is the case with 3 of Cher's solo 1975-1977 albums. So here is yet another lost gem from the Warner Brothers records vault, that is just gathering dust.

So yet again from 30 years ago here is Cher, singing "Island" from the Allman and Woman Two The Hard Way album.
Enjoy the show and please turn your cell phones off and no talking during the show. Smoking is permitted tho....

  • @chermaster85 Sorry, but Cher did NOT write this song. It was written by Lauren Wood aka Ilene Rappaport aka Chunky of Chunky, Novi and Ernie. It was originally released on the self titled 'Chunky, Novi and Ernie' album in 1977 on Warner Bros. Records. Cher did do a fine version here tho.

  • I love this song. I've listened to my copy of the album and cassette a hundred times. I am not aware of there being alternate takes or versions of the songs from Two the Hard Way, but I swear the phrasing of some of the words in this version seems a bit different to me -- not quite a syncopated as I remember.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! :)

This is such a great ballad and a unbelievable album.

I think this is one of the best CHER albums.

  • This is one of her most beautiful songs ever. She actually wrote this song, using a pseunodym. Beautiful!!
