Benicio Del Toro has admitted that he was lucky to be offered the opportunity to play Che Guevara.
The 41-year-old won best actor at the Cannes Film Festival for his lead role in Che, but he claimed he wasn't necessarily expecting an Oscar nomination.

"I just got lucky, you know. My guess (about the forthcoming awards) is as good as yours. Why did I have to play him? I don't know," Benicio admitted.

  • I could be wrong, but it seems as though Benicio doesn't know much about this man at all, considering he is unable to give any of these anchors a straight answer to any of the Q's they're asking.

  • As much as I love Benicio del Toro. I don't think he is the best spokesperson for Che Guevara. Again, its not his job and he is a great actor.

  • Want truth, and facts? Read about it. Benecio is an actor ~ I enjoy hearing and watching him.

  • @MickeyNM You dumbass, it's war, are you going to have a trial for every man in war?

  • Armed Struggle obsolete?! Man that hurt, that hurt when he said that.

  • @evanb1128 You are 100% right. Walking on egg shells, as not to offend anyone but more importantly look after his career. Benicio del toro just went down in my estimation.

  • @starmanskye - Lots of big words there - sounds like the ramblings of your garden-variety pseudointellectual. Many people misunderstand Che? Like many people misunderstand Hitler or Stalin, or Mao? Is that what you are saying? It's okay to execute people without trial because of an ideal you think is good? Really? You EARN the title "Butcher of La Cabana" because what - you're misunderstood? Really?

  • @MickeyNM -- Typical self-indulgent comment that reflects far-more about your faithful allegiance to biased stereotypes that reinforce unquestioned worldview assumptions than offering any insights re. human nature or history. I think Benicio might have been wary of or intimidated against saying something that might be construed as defending or valorizing Che that he'd then have to argue. Instead, his comments were wishy-washy, vague & non-committal. Too bad, as many people misunderstand Che.

  • IF American political & financial elites who maintain the cultural & trade blockade of Cuba really believed in the noble & prosperous tenets of neoliberalism, they would facilitate open, gracious & generous relations instead of a policy reflecting contempt, malice, suspicion, bitterness & hostility. Apparently they are more wary of the power & influence of anti-imperialist Revolutionary ideas 'infecting' America & exposing its hypocrisy & lies than relishing opportunities for trade & investment.

  • 7 years of research and he learned nothing. What a typical hollywood commie libtard.

  • how could people compare hitler whit Che??

    crazy world we live...

by the way fuck americans puppets

  • glad i didn't watch the movie
