  • Hi im having a little problems with i3status and dzen2 can you tell where can i find information different to the guide user ?

  • @hector12241 As I said in an earlier comment, youtube is not a support channel for i3.

I don’t know where you can find other information about this. I also suggest to not bother with dzen2 and just use i3bar (default in i3 v4).

  • how can i change my wallpaper in i3 ?

  • @drumitar Just use feh, xsetroot, display or any other tool which sets the X11 root window background.

In general, please come to IRC for questions like this, youtube is not a support channel for i3.

  • You're running Archlinux or Aptosid or?

  • @wouzsz I’m running Debian testing.

  • Thanks for this project i like most than wmii :-D

  • @walter0bz Interesting that you mention Blender. With the the new UI in 2.5, you can have separate system-level windows for each blender region. I've not used blender with a tiling wm yet, but separate windows can be saved to the default layout with their positions. Conceivably, they could be set up to be in the correct tiled arrangement. I don't suspect blender supports a configuration like that, though.

  • @the2ck - then you get Blender, which has its' own tiling WM internally :)

  • @the2ck -

Perhaps you're right - i recall Gimp's toolbar is quite configurable, already some sort of column layout.

But I recall that Popup Dialog Boxes seem slightly at loggerheads with tiling WM's; the dialog boxes themselves are big offenders for having specific size layouts (e.g. not able to adjust between portrait & landscape).

to me *true* tiling WM might mean going as far as eliminating popup palettes etc.
