I wanted to share my secrets that i use to catch BIG Alligator Gar. Including Baits, Rods, Line , Fishing Tackle , And Step by Step process of how to catch and keep one of these monsters on the hook. Im open for questions or Ideas. I saw other educational films on youtube for catching gar that i didn't think was correct so i made this! Hope you enjoy and im also open to advice and fishing tips!

I personally try to cut as far back as i can and leave it to rust out. Unless i can get it out without killing him.

U don't need the dead fish on the buzz bait I catch good sized gar on micro buzz baits wit a truble hook trailer but for the sit and wait have u tried using a ugly stick tiger series those are grate for this shit and snagging huge ass Asian carp grate vid keep up the hard work

Hey Kyle not to sound like a prick but your gear needs some update bud..i live on the mississippi river and we catch big blue cats and our gear can pull in small buses..check out renegadetackle. they have excellent big gear for realy good prices.I use MING-Yang reels and shakespear tiger rods,TWC rods r kick ass TANGLING WITH CATFISH also WarRods from renegade are awsome...

hey manthanksforthe tips that really helped but i like to use perch instead im nothat big on gar fishing im more of a bass andhybrid and strypier guy i dont agree with waiting that long to set a hokk i go with my gut and set it as soon as they ht it thanks anyway for the tiops thou

I do let the drag loose and let them run with it but I tend to not have the waiting game. I seem to get a hit within 5 minutes each and every time.

Dude kick ass video. Down here in Lake Darbonne Louisiana Farmerville that is.... below the spill way there are tons of bad ass alligator gar. I mean TONS. Hard as hell to catch. But it's a thrill! But dude. I guess I'm not waiting long enough before I set the hook. They tend to spit the hook out when I get them close to the bank. Thinking about using jugs and jugging the shit out of them.
