In a move to transition Iowa Health System from hospital-centered to physician-driven, the state's first and largest integrated health system graduated its first class of 35 doctors from its innovative and first ever Physician Leadership Academy.
The Physician Leadership Academy, an intensive graduate-level course of study, accredited by the American College of Physician Executives, was launched in 2010 to identify, prepare and support practicing clinicians who, upon graduation, are well-positioned to be leaders within the organization and to contribute to the strategic direction of Iowa Health System.
The Physician Leadership Academy is among the first in the nation to help train seasoned physicians to become leaders in the hospital and within the health system leading to even better patient care.
