"The Retail Revolution: How Wal-Mart Created a Brave New World of Business"

Nelson Lichtenstein, director of the Center for the Study of Work, Labor, and Democracy at the University of California, Santa Barbara presents a history of Wal-Mart. From its founding by Sam Walton in Arkansas to its current place as a retail chain employing two million people and operating 6,000 stores. Mr. Lichtenstein explores the links between the rise of Wal-Mart and the rise of globalization and what he deems Bible Belt cultural values. This event was hosted by Harvard Bookstore in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
