"Linux and UNIX are both POSIX-compliant, but Linux is not derived from UNIX," is what you were looking for, I believe ;) Yet you still described just that, in easier-to-understand terms.

Thanks for the comment. Your description is succinct and accurate. Unfortunately, I think most people don't know what POSIX means. That's a whole other video. Here's a bit of trivia: Did you know that Windows (NT, 2000, XP, Vista) has a POSIX compatibility layer? Does that make Windows Unix?
