Tommy Cooper - The "Hats" Sketch

It was written specially for Tommy by Freddie Sadler (a "Comedy Impressionist and Compere") and Val Andrews (magical performer and comedy scriuptwriter), two of the very few writers that he ever had write for him.

The rest is down to the sheer genius of Tommy himself.

Watching tommy, or morcomb and wise, or listening to the goon show,.... It's just such innocent humour. You end up laughing like a child till your sides hurt.

Differant Type Of Humour Mate. You Wouldnt Get It. Like Old Ronnie Corbett And The End Of The Two Ronnies. Just Sat there Telling A Story That Took For Ever And The Story Was Crap. But The Waay He Carried It Out Was Tremendous

Thanks, but I don't think you know me well enough to tell me what humour I "get" and "don't get".

I simply made an objective criticism of the piece based on the content and the performance - niether of which support the idea that this is Tommy's "best ever sketch".

He just had entertainment and funniness running through him - a brilliant man.

and when you think around this time his brother had just chinned Mohammed Ali.. you have to say that was a phenomenal set of kids.

And he's wearing make-up as well!
