NAOMI & LISA WILCOX, GP KUR, U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS 2008

Naomi and Lisa Wilcox scored 67.80 and took 9th place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the 2008 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Dressage Festival of Champions held at the Oaks Blenheim in San Juan Capistrano, California on Sunday June 29th, 2008.

American-born Lisa Wilcox spent 12 years in Europe riding and competing on some of the sports' finest horses. Originally based in Germany at Gestut Vorwerk, an Oldenburg stud farm, she rode and competed Gudula Vorwerk stallions. Later she rode and showed sale horses at Dr. Samuel Schatzmann's facility in Switerzland. Along the way she trained with Ernst Hoyos, a rider for the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria, and also with four-time Olympic Gold medalist Nicol Uphoff and U.S. team coach Klaus Balkenhol.

In 2006, Wilcox returned home to the U.S. and settled in West Palm Beach, FL.

After a relatively quiet, but successful 2007 season, Wilcox returned in 2008 with Naomi, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood in December of 2007. At their season debut at the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge I, the pair performed near perfect and earned a second and a first in the Grand Prix. Wilcox and Naomi continued their brilliant season always placing within the top five at the CDIW/Y West Palm Beach, the Wellington Classic and the CDI Wilcox also has another star up-and-coming with the 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, Passionelle. Currently competing at the Prix St. George Level, the mare consistently places in the top five, with wins at the Gold Coast Opener, the Palm Beach Dressage Derby, and the WEF Dressage Classic.

In 2004, Wilcox and Relevant were part of the bronze medal effort at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Wilcox and Relevant were also part of the U.S. Team to finish second in the team competition at CDIO Aachen in 2003, they also placed second individually. In 2002, Wilcox and Relevant helped the U.S. dressage squad capture the Team Silver medal, marking the best finish ever for a United States dressage team in any World Championship or Olympic Games. Individually, Wilcox placed fifth. Also that year, her and Relevant placed second at CDI3 Zwolle.

In 2001, Wilcox entered the top 10 in the FEI rankings based on such accomplishments as winning the Grand Prix Championship with Relevant at CDI3 Zwolle, the Netherlands. She was also second in the Grand Prix with Friedenfurst, owned by Merzdorf. The following week at the Grand Prix at CDI3 in Dortmund, Germany, Wilcox placed third with Rohdiamant. Wilcox became the first non-European rider to enter the top 10 of the BCM FEI World Dressage Rider Rankings.
