it doesn't matter that the capital one bowl offense is not what dickrod specializes in, cause its a version of the spread that fits the talent that Michigan had, and unlike the prostyle, which is a wholeyl different system, the capital one bowl offense is merely a MODIFICATION of dickrods spread. its the same formations and principles but different plays. so tell me: WHY WAS DICKROD TOO STUPID TO NOT RUN THAT SYSTEM?

@Brewhaman The awesomely talented and experienced d-line was madingly average in 08 under Tall and was average again last season despite again being loaded with talent. and the new linebackers-safeties coach? no experienced whatsoever. don't even get me started on Shafer.

fact is, COACHING is what has caused our defense to fuck up. shallow depth can only hurt you if you have lots of injuries, which has NOT been the case the last two seasons

no. not really. there was shallow depth due to a lower then average retention rate of 58.3%, as the decimated defense series explains, but the fact, is, there was PLENTY of talent among the starting 11, and its, uh, the STARTERS who make or break a defense. In 08, all of the starters were blue chips except Ezeh and Thompson, and in 2009, it was all of them except Woolfolk, Kovacs, and Ezeh.

thats fine and dandy, but you still somehow can't get your huge head around the fact that dickrod FORCED the players into the system instead of ADJUSTING and MODIFYING it to FIT his talent like SUCCESSFUL head coaches have done (Meyer, Stoops, Tressell, Paterno, etc).
