my bad. what it looked like what happened is that he played jund sojourners previously, then payed the cycling cost to sacrifice it, draw a card and deal one damage as opposed to discarding it to draw a card and deal one damage. i am aware of how jund sojourners works, i thought that it had already been in play when he dealt the damage and drew.

Actually it is, normal cycling is discard this card, draw a card however Jund Sojo has a 1 damage ability on it when cycled or put in the grave, learn.
