Love. Imagine noticing something about someone and immediately knowing that you loved them. Just loved them. There's nothing you can do about it. It just happens.

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impair'd the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

In the summer of 1814 Lord Byron attended a party and was captured by the beauty of his cousin, Mrs. Wilmot. Mrs Wilmot was in mourning and wearing a black mourning dress. According to his friend, Mr James Webster, "I did take him to Lady Sitwell's party in Seymour Road. He there for the first time saw his cousin, the beautiful Mrs. Wilmot. When we returned to his rooms in Albany, he said little, but desired Fletcher to give him a tumbler of brandy, which he drank at one to Mrs. Wilmot's health, then retired to rest, and was, I heard afterwards, in a sad state all night. The next day he wrote those charming lines upon her—She walks in Beauty like the Night..."

Directors note: This is made in the style of an old fashioned 'ac-tor' and attempts to create a 'restored archive' feel. The restoration seems to have worked very well at the end section where the sad old actor is revealed as he really is!

  • I miss your videos Vox. This one changes at 1:29 and i like the video effect and makeup. I like that other version of Kubla Khan you did too, and have shared links to your current version. The one where you hold eye contact with the cam was really great.

  • Lord Byron wrote this for one of his various women; which, I don't know.

    It was the most memorable and romantic poem I read in high school.

  • Indeed :)
