In the style of the new series. A chain of mysterious deaths leads the Doctor to believe that there is more to a machine that reforms criminals than meets the eye. And who exactly is Proffesor Keller?
I KNOW I SAID THE FACELESS ONES WAS NEXT BUT I'M HAVING TROUBLE FINDING SUITABLE MATERIAL. IT SHOULD BE UP SOON....

  • In black and white?

  • Yeah. As I've said below most of The Mind of Evil only exists as black and white film recordings from overseas - the BBC thought they had no use for the colour copies and destroyed them in the 70s. Shame

  • Its pretty darn good. But why is it greyscaled?

  • The mind of evil is lost in colour apart from the a few minutes from the last episode. A few parts of the trailer would be colour (such as the closing scene from Terror of the Autons) but i have grayscaled them for consistency

  • Could've used the Pertwee version of the music instead of the current one, though. Other than that, COOL!!!!!

  • @2234dw the restoration team are restoring this story to colour using the colour recovery method but episode 1 has a problem episode one had a notch filter meaning the chroma dots are gone.

  • @dr1090 No. Only one story featuring Jo, Mind of Evil, exists in Black and White, and not a later episode. It's her second story. Invasion of the Dinosaurs features Sarah-Jane, not Jo. Mind of Evil was made in colour, as dolphin8b explained, BBC enterprises destroyed the colour copies leaving only the Black and White copies that where made from overseas broadcasting. Mind of Evil, along with The Ambassadors of Death and Invasion of the Dinosaurs, is being restored to colour for the DVD release.

  • Just finished episode 3 of this Petwee Epic. Part 4 tonight

  • @dr1090

Dr who made on colur videotape from November 1969, however BBC enterprises made b/w film recordings for overseas sales. .The orginal tapes where wiped leaving a mix of film copies, NTSC conversions and pAl copies (and offair betamax copies as well)

  • This is one of my favourite Jon Pertwee stories. I absolutely love the incidental music in it too.

  • Because the original prints were lost.

  • Why were half of the episodes with Jo, when she first came into the show in colour, and then later episodes with her were in black and white, for example, Ambassadors of Death, invasion of the dinosaus etc...?

  • Most Doctor Who stories are better in B&W. Just try turning the colour down on the TV when you watch it. Usually makes it more atmospheric.
