Windows 7 vs Linux boot up speed test

Since when was boot time an indicator of stability, functionality and speed?

This was just sad. A good portion of the test was waiting for you to select the proper OS in GRUB, Typing your password, and actually starting up Firefox.
Additionally, you've got a messed up kernel, which is why it took so long to actually begin the boot process.
Flawed indeed.

Linux рулит!)

I boot kde off a usb stick do that with windows.

That sure's a very accurate test:
- You spent ~2sec in GRUB before booting Windows and ~2.5sec in GRUB before booting Kubuntu.
- Your BIOS ACPI tables are messed up (blame Sony, not Phoenix), and that freezed the Linux kernel for ~10sec.
- You typed your password in ~4sec on Windows and in ~2.5sec on Kubuntu.
- You spent ~4sec on Windows desktop and ~3sec on KDE.
There are your ~9sec. Also, I've a 3GHz 1-core Athlon-XP based PC with ArchLinux on a 5200rpm HDD, and it cold boots to X11 in ~32sec.

I'm using GRUB, Kubuntu installs it automatically. You just need to install Windows first, then install Linux.

Even though it's really interesting that my first Windows vs Linux video, which was real crap, has a much better rating...because Linux won. This time, I tried to be more objective and used 64 bit Kubuntu with KDE 4.0 (which is not really fast one), Windows won and it automaticly means that this video is shit. Yeah...that's lame.

Guys, seriously, result of this test is no ultimate truth about which system is better. It is what it is, comparation of boot time of two systems under certain circumstances. I'm sure that your system is 1000% faster or whatever, but I don't really care.

The test is incorrect. Because Kubuntu had some error(at the 1.8 kernel time) which prevented from booting for 13 seconds.

Well, what can I say - it's Kubuntu's fault. I found no way to fix this. W7 didn't need any special setup.
