First vacuum tube amplifier.

Finally made something with tubes other than sparks! It was made in a day, and the tubes and other components, as well as the base came from some radio thing. I just ripped all the wires out, and took all of the caps and resistors out. All of the resistors are old and came from different tube circuits. There is one 1k resistor that melts after 5-10 minutes of running, so i will put a 1.2k resistor in parallel with it (i need lower resistance anyway).

The final amp tube is a 12 watt max output pentode, the 6BQ5. The preamp tube is 1.2 watt dual triode, the 6EU7. The dual rectifier tube is 6CA4. I am only running one pentode, as i am using one channel. The other pentode was just sitting there with its filament lit for no apparent reason :P.

I still need to make the other channel, and finally add the 1mohm pot for volume adjust. After that it will be complete.

@gear108head For one, it is not a strat, it is a knockoff called the 'starcaster'. And, another thing, it was my brother's. He has a strat now, though, so no need to worry about this 100 dollar piece of shit.

Its a magnavox stereo amp out of a console. The filter cap needs to be replaced. Thats why the resistor keep burning up. I have two of the amps I had to replace the filter caps on both of them .

@mike6l6 I rebuilt this with different tubes and a new cap. The resistor was burning up because i need something more like 20 watts, not 3 or whatever :P. Not too terribly sure that the new cap i put in it was good, but it was not as old. The old cap was dead short. The sockets and audio transformers are original.

Replace that electrolytic can and that resistor will not blow in 10 minutes - or at all.:)
