i used to go to the gold theater in chicago in the late 40s and saw a movie with tex ritter singing this song. i loved to hear him sing it thanks for playing it.

What a great cowboy he was back in his day

But he survived it somehow and lived a long happy life. When I knew him he was still braking his own horses at the young age of 85 years old. What a great man to know and equally a good song.
