@Zozanqa The rule that the ball has to hit the board after a penalty corner was introduced a couple of years later. The German goal complied with the rules of 1972.

indeed it was a very bad and equally wrong decision of the umpire.
It happened to be a very big scandalof Pakistan Hockey.
The way the pakistani players reacted on the medals stand, was really unwanted for.

Good classic footage......hockey has changed so much and I think after this match the entire Pakistani team was banned.
