2) Time machine takes me back in time past The Beatles, past Hitler, past the Great Depression right into the year 1929. 1929 was the year the stock market crashed in October of that year, known as 'Black Tuesday.' In 1929, television was one year old. Radio had been around for a number of years but there was still a lot of static! Of course, there was no color television, no internet, no cell phones, and yes, no video games! And yeah, what about those crazy Abbot & Costello hats...'AYYYYY ABBOTT!!!!'
3) We keep hearing politicians say "This is the worst recession since The Great Depression!" in 1929, the stock market crashed. People lost everything! There has never been en economic collapse like the one in 1929. The Great Depression lasted until World War II. We are not even close to anything as we saw during The Great Depression! Trust me, I'VE BEEN THERE! In 2011, I had a cell phone. I had a job. I had internet! I had air conditioning! (Air conditioners were around in 1929 but didn't become widespread commercially available until the 1950's.)
Hitler's trying to take over the world! Compared to 1929, in 2011 people have it so good that they don't even know it! During The Great Depression, people were jumping out of windows on a regular basis! Today is NOTHING like the era preceeding, during, or following The Great Depression!
4) In 2011, we have the ability to send messages around the world in mere SECONDS, not like the days of the Pony Express! The bottom line is today we have so many comforts due to modern technology those people didn't have in 1929. We think we have it tough. In 1929, they had it tougher. I know; I've been there!
5) I want to get the hell out of 1929! I don't want to go through The Great Depression and World War II.
6) As the great Glenn Beck says, "If we don't learn from history, we're bound to REPEAT it!" I've been to 1929! I didn't like what I saw!
7) If we truly want to avoid another Great Depression, here's the solution:
We've got to stop spending like drunken sailors! (My apologies to drunken sailors everywhere!) Our government has got to stop spending like crazy on 'entitlement programs' such as SOCIAL SECURITY and WELFARE! Social Security is going BANKRUPT! China is taking over our country by buying our ENORMOUS DEPT! We have got to keep jobs right here in the good'ol U.S.A., otherwise we're all going to be saying, "AYYYY ABBOTT!!!!"
8) We have to take our country back by LOWERING TAXES, put more $$$$ in the pockets of the people! Nix entitlement programs such as welfare and social security! Bush was right! Private accounts is the way to go! Because if we keep spending money we don't have...If we keep printing worthless currency, we're going to end up right here in 1929. And then, we'll truly have another Great Depression! THIS IS UNSUSTAINABLE! If we don't learn from our mistakes...If we don't learn from history, we're bound to REPEAT it!
9) People say I have a big head! If I had a big head, this stupid hat wouldn't be dancing around like this!
10) I've got to get out of here! I've got to get back to 2011. Things are not as bad as everyone says they are! 1929 was way worse than 2011. I'll take 2011 over 1929 any day of the week! Back in 2011! My cell phone works again! :-) My internet's back! We've got video games! IN 1929 WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY OF THAT!
11) We have it so good now that we can't even begin to appreciate it. Unless we could go back in time! Hey, I'VE BEEN THERE! Now, I'm going to shove this time machine up my brother's ass!
