After stopping for a photo runby and to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Western Pacific Railroad on the Keddie Wye, the eastbound Union Pacific 844 steam train pulls into Keddie, California on May 2, 2009 at 12:24 PM and stops for a moment to pick up it's passengers before continuing eastward toward Portola.

  • haha 3:01 = whoops!! almost wrong place at the wrong time

sorry, i just though it was a little funny :)

  • lol, I guess that was pretty funny!

  • Very Nice... I almost missed this one it posted later than the others.. I believe Engineer Steve Lee's words on the radio (just before they did the photo runby) were: "Okay We're going to do something, ah.. dramatic."

Which I can just imagine was the scene as he exited Tunnel 31 and out onto the Wye Bridge.. What a great job you did with what you had to work with G.

  • LOL! I heard that over the scanner just before I started filming! I guess he spun the wheels three times on the bridge. I guess I didn't miss too much though, I wasn't about to try to get a spot at the Wye anyway..

  • It's worth listening to this video just to hear Reed Jackson on the radio.

  • If this is the west end of Keddie, the train would be coming off the Keddie bridge, and the tunnel is the third leg of the wye to the high line. What was the purpose of stopping the back of the train on the 'wye bridge'? And the rush of the railfans to the front end was priceless!!

  • what a sight! seing a cloud of smoke and then the 844 comes around the curve

  • I wish they could have done a run-by of the train coming out of the tunnel. Still, not bad, even with the seat-picker.

  • This video is amazing! The quality and the fact that you can watch and hear from the scanner at the same time is great. I have watched this vid 6 times already! Keep up the great work!

  • Awesome shots!! Could you tell, did they have engineer etc in the WP Heritage diesel...?? (probably) Of course the 844 is the "star", but I sure do like that WP 1983 Heritage engine.... it isn't one of the most colorful they have but I think it is one of the nicest looking!! Great video!!

  • LOL, I just noticed that the other day. I didn't see it when I was putting the vid together or I would have edited that out.

  • I heard the wheel slip up the road, stood by the depot waiting. My cam battery died while I was on the wye, thanks for picking up the slack.

  • George, this video came out extremely well. I really like how you used your surroundings to do something like this! I love the wheelslip sounds in the shot here.. Well Done George, the videos are getting more and more dramatic.. which i like.. hehe

  • Just simply spectacular!
