Why would the bookstore only want to hire straight people? There's lots of people who are both gay AND Christian and lots of Christians who have absolutely no problem with gay people.

As the owner of gay bookstores for 35 years, I can assure you that we hire people based on their skills, aptitude and references, not on their sexual orientation or gender expression. You might want to try that, too -- it makes for a capable staff and a great working environment.
