The Deaf Festival Event was held at Action Deafness on 9th May and attracted over 100 people, which was a success.
Action Deafness were delighted with Deaf Festival event, particularly as it is the first time they have organised anything like it. They intend to build on the success of the festival and hold a similar event next year.
There were workshops through out the day, including a demostration from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, BSL Taster Sessions and Deafness in the Family.
It was an excellent opportunity for deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and hearing people in the East Midlands to access to a variety of information, related to deafness, all in one place.
Exhibitors on the day includes:- Action Deafness Books, Leicester City Council, Infoxchange, Sense, Leicester College, NHS Leicester City, Tinnitus Association, RNID, Tinnitus Association, DCAL, Dering Employment Services, Hearing Concern Link, Police and Fire Services, NADP, Communication Access Consultants, LDCS, Wolverhampton University, Chesterfield Law Centre, Signature and Deaf Parenting UK
