There is only one HDD that is larger, and that's Toshiba's latest 1.8" drive. They say it's the same size (physically) as the old 120 - so I don't see why not.

No - the smaller Zune's are flash/NAND-based. Thusly they have no HDD for you to replace/modify. If you have a 4GB, however, I don't see what's stopping you from switching out the mainboard with that of an 8GB

You have no clue of the terminology being used here. It being HD or not has nothing to do with the backlighting.

No, it doesn't. It has a 480x272 resolution. 1280x720 is HD.
