Philosophy of use is mainly a camp/edc fixed blade. It can, as all knives can be secondarily categorized as a defensive blade. Notice I said "defensive" not "combat". A combat knife is usually a lot bigger and has features on it that make it for protecting the user of the knife from another knife or even sword in many large combat knives. It has a very nice steel for only paying 5.56 for the knife (440 steel). Everyone has their own experiences with different steel on a knife. Mine, with 440 steel has been very good. As I always say when it comes to picking ammo, it all works the same for me. It's kind of like that knife steel. Most knife steel work about the same for me. Knife steel varies more than ammo does. Every once in a while I will see a nice high-carbon steel that I really like and I will say "wow, this is really nice". But mostly, they are about the same. I know, metallically, they are all different somehow, but they can be so similar that you just can't notice any change in the wear, deterioration, and ease of sharpening on a blade. As stated in the video, I have failed to find out what Spanish Micarta is. If any of you guys know what it is, please tell me so I can know for future videos and reference to this knife. The handle works, but there is much room for improvement on the handle. I.E.- Cutting patterns in the handle to make better traction. If you don't use the blade vigorously it wont slip. If you do it still probably won't slip, but it's more likely. The strength for such a small knife is outstanding. (As seen in the batoning video) It's flawless. It was put through way more than it should be and it STILL held up with NO damage.
