@monkeyfuel04 Yes, I know, I'm on Medicare/Medicaid. Medicaid stopped services two years ago and as a result I developed a host of cavities, a few months after I just had 24 cavities filled, then Medicaid stopped their services after that. My teeth disintegrated because of the previous and new cavities and I lost all my teeth and now wear dentures. I am only 31 years olds. I don't know why my teeth disintegrated like that but I had bad teeth anyways.

I really think that insurance companies aren't convinced that teeth are necessary, that's why it's so expensive. They don't realize how it impacts your health or lost time at work etc. Expense and me being embarrassed about the condition of my teeth is why I hesitate to go in. I didn't have the best of habits, but considering I take medicine that causes dry mouth, family history of bad teeth in general, and I'm allergic to milk products, I'm not in a good position right now.

i use a needle through the gum.. you'll know you have the abcess because the needle will go in pretty far with little pressure at all..

@FluffyBunnies44 Got a pre molar removed yesterday afternoon and a cheek abscess drained. Still in quite a bit of pain. Not fun.
Anyway, mine flared up quite suddenly on Saturday and I ended up spending the night in hospital on IV meds. The doctors prescribed me Panadeine Forte and Ibuprofen for the pain and although the combo only lasts a few hours (4 to 6) it's quite effective. What sucks though is that it will make you drowsy as hell so no driving. I've had to take time off work.

I have got a major abscessed tooth, anyway the whole right side of my face is swollen and I have alot of pain. My appointment is more than a month away. They gave me meds but the pain still stays. And it does not last long. Is there anyway to relieve some of this pressure and pain without cutting myself open? [I'm getting a root cannal and a crown when I go to the dentist]...

@multiAction22 I am in the UK and there are dentists that operate for free-but-they have limited spaces and are very VERY hard to get registered with. I, infact noone in my family has ever been registered with an NHS dentist because there just isnt the space-so some people in the UK do indeed have to pay
-
@Samzsite same here - free dental care, free hospital treatment, free collage's - i think it should be free everywhere because if someone in the uk gets tooth pain, they go to the dentist get the treatment there job done no money spent but in america if you get tooth pain you could be paying alot of money some people dont have!
If they just lower the dentists bills so everybody can check and cure their teeth, instead of giving endless and pointless advices.
A deep cleaning that cost over a $400 bucks, I mean come on!
TAKE CARE of your teeth before you'll end up broke.

I have an abcessed tooth (getting it check out tommorow) I dont want a drill in my mouth, why cant they make an incision in the abcess, let it drain, give me antibiotics and then either pull the tooth or fill it in?? Thats why I hate going to the dentist they try to do the most expensive procedures and make u believe that this is what u need
