Located within the Yogyakarta province, Yogyakarta city is known as a center of classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry and puppet shows. It is also famous as a center for Indonesian higher education. At Yogyakarta's center is the kraton, or Sultan's palace. We visited it, and it was both thumbs down... But other parts of the city were quite charming, despite us having to dodge a multitude of batik pushers.

  • well done, bro. i wonder if it's the palace of the same sultan of jokja that i met here in seoul a few years back.

and to think that i was hoping for an invite.....the sink alone would make me say "pass".

what the hell is boybelang on about? the name alone would make me think that he's terribly confused and alone.

  • I think he LIKES the sink and disagrees with my opinion. Just a feeling.

  • in some cultures, disparaging one's washbasin is tantamount to insulting their god(s).

either that or he tried to sell you batik, and recognized your face as one who rebuffed his sales pitch.

    that'll teach ya!

  • i...hate...batik... i cannot express that enough...

and from now on i will not mention sinks. EVER. gotta keep it classy.

  • 3:41 seth rogen , hahaha , 7:07 the sultan's cock, lol ..yea sultan's palace is so boring

  • I like the music that starts from 4.43, very relaxed, did you compose that yourself or did you buy it.

  • jogja is

    jogja never ending of art

    sugeng rawuh semuanya

  • What is the song at sultans?

  • hii... i bought that one.^ ( in minute 8 :34 )

  • the best time to enjoy sultan's palace is on Sekaten celebration (around 20 january - 20 february), come at night!!

  • you should go to ratu boko temple, the temple is above the hills, nice scenery. commonly used for pre wedding photo shoot. if you're lucky you get a beautiful sunset there. oh and from there you can see the prambanan temple from a distance.

I live in jakarta, but once a year I visited Yogyakarta for a vacation.

  • You gotta love the locals. lol

I went there 3 times, every trips were nice. I guess you were in the wrong time and in the wrong side of Yogya!

  • It's pretty awesome, I used to live in Yogya, it was my hometown, have been away for almost 20 years now, missing Yogya very much, the food, the culture, the market, etc.

My coworker is going there soon, I will show him this video.
