A slide show I whipped together of my 1970 Corvette - with a little help from a friend. This was 2005 when I was runniung the aluminum block 540 with a Richmond 6 speed. My first autocross with the new engine.

A few minutes after these pictures were taken, I blew up my transmission. That's what I like about high performance bigblocks! Woohoo!

Be sure to watch in "High Quality".

Yes, I do know how to spell Corvette!

I've opened an online store where you can get 540Merlin T-shirts and other great stuff! This is the only source in the world for 540Merlin stuff.

The music, for the few who do not know, is Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild:

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die

Born to be wild
Born to be wild

  • i dont know much about motors but i was just wondering why you put a big block in your cars, when you can put a small block in and get the same horsepower, and lighter weight. NASCAR has there 350 Chevy's pushin 800-900 HP

  • @rubypuppy7 Torque. It's orgasmic.

  • Great Vette, Great Video. What size wheels and tires are you running? What suspension mods would you recommend for auto crossing?

  • @FedoraBird 17 x 9 rims, custom made to fit. 275's on the back, I think these were 255's on the front back then. Suspension mads depend on what you are driving now. Wheels and tires are first if you're running 15's.

  • A true beauty great camera work too. Dang is a sunny Sunday afternoon, I need to hit the mountain roads here in Colorado.

  • @oOOpIIIqOOo It probably cost me $60k for the 540, clutch, 6 speed, exhaust, hood. It can be done for less (maybe $30k) if you're so inclined as to do all the labour yourself and cut a few corners. You can also spend more - this was already a bigblock 4 gear car.

  • How much did it cost you to put the 540 and the six speed in there? Love your car!

  • How much was did it cost you to get the 540 and the 6 speed in there? Very nice car btw, thanks for sharing!

  • @scradly123 Long live the reality.
