Friends and Family: Today there was just enough time for Katie-Jay and Gabriel to meet new friends, to gather another handful of stories, take some photos, and visit a classroom. After being blessed with 14 years of education in my life, this video has left an irreplaceable impression on me. You will soon meet a young girl, the only girl out of the 12 students. In the camps 6th grade is the last year for the kids to study. Once they reach this level they have to leave their dreams, their wants for their future, and their passions behind them.

Today we meet Selma. She like Oumar from yesterday is a leader to everyone that engages in the video from Day 7. She is calling on America today. She is asking that we help her and many others in Darfur in order to have the opportunity to continue her education. Most of us reading this were born or raised in the land of the free, the land of opportunity, America. The opportunities that America provides are not just for us here in the states; they are for everyone if we allow them to be. Take the chance that we have here in the USA and be a voice for the children of Darfur. Everyone one of us reading has goals, a desire for a career, and plans for a future to shape our individual lives. We all have ambitions and achievements we are working towards accomplishing. The children of Darfur have hopes and dreams as well. They like us, have certain outcomes, and achievements they want to accomplish for their lives. Take a moment and experiment with the idea that all those hopes and dreams you cherish are taken from you. That you loose every opportunity to make the life for yourself that you had always wanted. Everyday I try and think about what it would be like to wait in a camp for 5 years. Today while we all pursue our own futures let us remember those who don't get to do that right now; let us remember that before everything else we are their voice, and that together we have the ability to make a future possible for the children of Darfur. These children are the next leaders of Sudan.

Today's action: Make a Pledge with the San Francisco Darfur Coalition to join Darfur Fridays. Wear a t-shirt or a wristband about Darfur and engage your friends in conversation about the genocide in Darfur. Make this part of your regular week. Stand up. Reach out.
