Ryan Howard ended his home run drought and the Phillies clubbed three solo homers in a 5-4, game three win over Tampa Bay. Philadelphia leads the World Series two games to one. (Oct. 26)
...i'd have waited to see if they brought in a pinch man to steal & picked him off. then again, there's a very good reason i'm not a major league skipper. exciting baseball this year. pre, regulation & post. i like chicago & ny teams but this has still been a blast to watch
i ain't no casey stengel (the best manager in history in my opinion), but the way i see it, walking the bases until they're loaded in a tie game, with no outs, in an extra inning situation, in the world series is very risky because 1 false move & you're done. i wouldn't done it with a force out at 2nd especially with the game the catcher was playing behind the mound (he played that plate better than i've ever seen in any game in my life; mitch williams could have used him back in the day)...
because the winning run was 90 feet away..loading the bases gives you the force at home and double up opprotunity to first...im guessing that more managers will use that defense in the future...GO PHILS!
phillies are great they will win it all

Dr. Joe Maddon could have deployed all 25 Rays in the infield and Ruiz's chopper would still have been successful.
The umpiring remains third-rate as Charlie Manuel continues to strand runners at third. A player by player comparison still favors the
the St. Pete Devils but there are the Whiz Kids II---ready to seize that elusive second Biggie (W/S trophy).
We like to call it that second 'Schmin-gilowicz'.
