Big wave surfer Laird Hamilton has been a tireless advocate for protecting our oceans. Now, as oil companies and Congress are proposing offshore drilling as a "solution" to high energy prices, our precious coastlines are in jeopardy again. Laird is working with NRDC, encouraging Americans to build a new energy economy based on clean technologies and green jobs.

  • I wounder how many times this shit face flys on a plane ?

  • Lairds neck is wider than his head, but i agree with him!

  • Thanks, Laird. You're a water freak.

  • We need to use geothermal energy. Using the heat within the earth. This would provide massive amounts of clean energy. Watch Zeitgeist: Addendum the last half is all about the type of world we could be living in if we managed our resources better.

  • oh larry you funny man. now get in that land cruiser and go to Big Save for some more beer and maki poki

  • Laird is Blonde!

  • Total hypocrisy once again! Very well, but leadership also means setting an example. I doubt Laird is doing any of that when he gets towed-in at Jaws by helicopter or jetskies, or getting the jetskies to the beach on his big SUVs. Come on Laird, don't you feel bad burning all this fuel for your pleasure? I haven't been driving for the last 5 years and finally understands what it means to really care for the planet and feel responsible.

  • Plug in hybrids are a short sighted solution.

Pure electric cars can be built with today's technology, and we also can build wind turbines to provide the power they use.

  • High-paying 'green' jobs? That will just drive up the cost of energy again. Is anyone fucking serious about this?
