u do know that china has a gaint property bubble and is a communist state whilst Russia is the most corrput nation with a low gdp per capita and most of its growth coming not from innovation but exporting resources... it china has a debt to gdp ratio of 100% which is more than the Uk at the minimum... you listen to russia all of like and hate your country all you like but its not great there and its not great here either..

If you knew your history, you'd know that the Russians have an affection for the English.

Anglosphere is a term to describe the countries in which English is the most spoken language. Essentially Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Britain and the USA.

What kinda 'shared culture' would you expect from Russia who is still China's comrade? BTW, Australia actually exports much more to China than imports from China. We need Chinese money to keep jobs and economy growth. Anglosphere? I haven't heard that for very long time, it's not in Australia's dictionary.

Look, the anglosphere are natural allies. Shared culture is more essential to an alliance than trade is. The fact that you want to abandon English speaking nations in favour of an alliance with China based purely on their exports to Australia is outstanding.

@TheLiberalKnight USA treats everyone like toys that is not the news. Given the current economic crisis in EU and US, I don't think many old powers would remain strong or even survive afterward. Australia still has some British heritage due to the history, but the only thing that really matter is the economy. If you want to keep your old allies close, you need to have strong economic ties with them. Ask yourself, how much investment and trade does Britain have with Australia? How much China has?
