I don't think siti nurhaliza did any wrong in pronouncing english in such a way cause Americans do not expect we, non-american to pronounce as similar as them. They will call us fake if we try to imitate how they sound. I'm talking based on my experiences of living among the Americans. They did not care about how Malay my English is, as long as i got the point delivered. Don't be stress about the accent and just be urself in whatever u're doing. in this case, i salute siti for being herself.
nah it's just i dont understand why malaysian just dont get it that they can use English to be the best among the best...and some people hate the language so much. i mean what do u have to lose in learning English..u'll definitely get loads of jobs opportunity out there. look at u..your english is good so that reduces part of your work challenge that u have to face. but then it's all the same to me if siti just stick to her level of english..then she wont be going anywhere soon.peace.
omg..do u even know what American, British or even Australian English are? They are English that differs in sounds/slangs/accent..which make them correct English. what siti is speaking or trying to speak is isnt even any type of English..if it is Manglish (Malaysian English) then it can be accepted too..but with all the wrong grammar i would be embarrassed to even call is Manglish.
English is a medium where siti can make herself go international and for people to realise the talent that she has. But then again if siti has the same minded as u no wonder all she can do is dream on to sing with her 'idol' Celine Dion. so eat that A-hole.
if u think english is merely a language than what more can i say...no wonder Charice Pempengco from Philipines who is 16 year old that doesnt sing as well as siti and that can only scream most of the time is up there with the A-list singer in Hollywood. she is sing on Ellen Degeneres, Oprah show, and even with Celine Dion in Madison Square Garden in front of millions of people and many more shows in US if u would google her on youtube...and i dont see her singing in her native language.
but i believe Siti has improved as well, without neglecting the fact tht she needs to keep learning.....like everyone else, regardless the language, smtimes we cant even pronounce Malay words properly, then it wud be a big shame..... unless you regard Malay as foreign language, in tht case....ive no say abt tht....daa
dear blue-colored-rose, dont always put english fluency as the benchmark, its merely a language, but some people just dont get it, esp among malays (no offence ya), it seems tht anyone with good english will get the kudos, stepping to nother level of insecurity? hahs, its nice to be 'excellent' in English like you, but it doesnt make any diff if the issue you trying to communicate is not fathomable..... pronunciation differs a lot, like American n British or even Australian?
