Captain Nathan Lagred surprised his family with his return to the U.S, Friday, Jan. 13, 2013 at a Minnesota State men's hockey game. In this video, Capt. Lagred sees his family for the first time since his seven-month deployment to Forward Operating Base Salerno in Afghanistan. A member of the ND Air National Guard - 119th Medical Group, Lagred provided medical care as a critical care nurse to injured American and coalition forces as well as provided medical assistance to the local populace. Captain Lagred received his nursing education from Minnesota State University - Mankato and his Respiratory care education from North Dakota State University in Fargo. While serving his country, his wife Juanita was at home caring for three children: Malia (10), Donovan (7), and Gracia (5). Juanita is a nurse in the Neurology Department at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato and worked full time while her husband was deployed.
