Kristy McNichol and Marsha Mason star in Neil Simon's "Only When I Laugh" (1981), which sadly has not made it into the digital age. Here is a clip from the movie where Polly (McNichol) and Georgia (Mason) spend the afternoon shopping on Madison Avenue. Brief appearance by Kevin Bacon as one of the college students trying to pick them up. Includes a great instrumental score!

  • Actually it made it to the first round of the digital age - I have a copy of this movie on LaserDisc - but the picture quality is nowhere near that of DVD.

  • this was on ANTENNA TV. i watched the whole thing due to a snow day and the fact it was bearable to watch

  • @mariasmayhem email me jazzmas01@yahoo.co.uk if you would like a copy from vhs to dvd as this is not available on dvd this is a great film and marsha is a great actress !!

  • I can't find this on DVD anywhere! Where did you get it?

  • Perhaps Kristy McNichol's best performance. Strange that this movie has never been made available on DVD, while The Pirate Movie, which is definitely the worst movie she has ever been in has been available on DVD for quite some time.

  • I worked as an usher at what used to be Loew's Paramount in NYC, and watched this movie alot. We used to sell out alot of shows when we played this from September thru mid December !

  • this is a fabulous movie and I've seen it numerous times...great performances from all the cast members...really enjoy the shopping montage

  • Just got this on vhs finally and transferred it to dvd! I love this movie. The screenplay was smarter than most critics gave it credit for. The only thing obviously missing is some mention of AA meetings which surely Georgia's doctor would've encouraged. Marsha Mason was robbed of the Oscar that year(lost out to the sentiment of Katherine Hepburn in On Golden Pond). As good as Marsha was, however,if you really want to see an actress playing alcoholic watch Susan Hayward in I'll Cry Tomorrow.

  • I just love this movie. I wish I could see the entire thing again. Thank you for posting this portion though! :)
