I Met this woman in the mid 90's during a multi-high school seminar about the Holocaust at Drexel University. I was very fortunate to be in the breakout group that she facilitated. i was sitting right next to her and when she pulled up her sleeve and the arm that was right next to mine and the numbers on it - everything i was learning in school was a shadow, her arm made it all real - scary, but she made an impact to me. i stayed after and talked to her more and i <3 her now and forever!

Ilka is the kindest and mos wonderful person you will ever meet. She came to my school and talked to a group of kids. I was lucky enough to be in that group. When it was all over I went up to her to thank her and she hugged me and told me she loved me. Just thinking about her and her story make my want to cry. I don't think it is possible for anyone to hate this woman. Anyone who meets her is touched by her. I LOVE YOU <3

Thank you for this!
I had the honor of meeting Itka this week at the show "Who Will Carry the Word?" We sat next to each other and talked for about 20 minutes. We cried, laughed, and held hands throughout the show and she comforted me, as I did her at the end of it.
She is one of the most beautiful souls I have ever met. Such an inspiration and such a kind woman. Thank you Itkala! I love, adore and appreciate you.
