This video is a user-friendly tutorial about installing the Optibay Hard Drive enclosure (http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/index.html) in a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro. The OptiBay replaces your optical drive (or "SuperDrive"), and gives you the ability to install a second hard drive in its place. So, you could (in my case) run a SSD for your operating system and applications, and a hard disk drive for your media files and documents.

  • What service branch are you in meyer?

  • @mayeraus41 Army, stationed in Qatar at the time.

  • If your macbook pro fails can't you just replace the dvd drive again and make it look like nothing was tampered with?

  • @cwbh10 Potentially, although there is a special screw for the original hard drive compartment. So, if you plan on doing any modifications to the original hard drive, you will need a apple specific screwdriver (iFixit.com probably sells it). There are no guarantees however. I'm not sure the process apple uses to determine if the devise was tampered with. Most companies use little dot stickers that go over one or more of the screws in the machine. I didn't see any on this Model, however.

  • That will work in any macbook pro?

  • @TheSantiayo This model is specifically for this version. Other dimension screens & years could have different internal configurations. Other videos of this can possibly be found on a secondary drive installation.
