  • Are you sure this was 1890 not 1990? Japan remains the only devloped nation where cholera is still endemic (though most cases are brought back by overseas travelers).

    There were 278 cases of cholera in Japan in 1995, most in travelers & some from endemic (native) cholera.

    US is not let off the hook, there is Bubonic plague in Prairie Dogs.
