Ferrets DO bite

My pet Gudû
chewing my hand while my mom( you can hear her voice at the beginning)
yells at me for not washing the dishes.

females are just as good as males, but with either gender you have to train them not to bite. it helps if you do this at a young age

@FerretSnuggle I agree with you,we should have taught him when he just arrived home(he was about 1 years old).But he didn't really start playing with us from the start.And since we found it so cute and realized that he relaxed after a bitting session,we didn't do anything about it.

But he's 5 now .___. I don't really see him learning anything anymore,hehe.

it's only dangerous when he really wants to hurt you,that doesn't happen anymore,only did when he was little.

it's actually cute when he wants to play like that nowadays,because now he's huge fat and lazy ._.

I do not mind getting bitten as long as it does not hurt. Here the ferret does not seem to be biting seriously.

in 2007 (christmas eve eve) i was bitten on the face twice by one of these little buggers. they really can be vicious.

if you teach it that it is acceptable.... obviously.. and he is play nipping you. watch some rabbit vs ferret videos to see real biting

Of course they bite,any animal with teeth can bite,including humans.Letting him gnaw on you're arm probably not helping,lol.Have owned ferrets for 20 years,and out of the number I've had,only one bit seriously,and she was a rescue who had been horribly abused,but even she settled after a while :)

seems like they 'bite' the same way trained cats do, it'll only hurt if their teeth pinch a nerve, but otherwise they are just playfully mouthing you.

A good way to teach them to stop biting is to whimper and pull away when they bite.

Ferrets have rough skin and are used to rough-housing. Whimpering sends the message that your being hurt so they don't bite as hard or stop all together.

my ferret bites when she is playing but she will never bite meanly.

He's clearly play-biting. You can train him not to bite by picking him up by the scruff of his neck EVERY TIME he bites. This takes about two weeks. Scruffing does not hurt a ferret; this is how their mother tells them to "knock it off."
