3 beats, pause, big beat, 2 more beats, loop

The image is a recreation of what I saw on the heart monitor at the hospital.
The sound is well... the sound of it, I looped it once.

This has been happening at varying intervals, anywhere from a couple times a minute to many hours between occurrences. When the strong beat happens I can feel it in my abdomen. I went to the ER and they took an EKG and some other tests and said everything was normal, but it didn't happen during the EKG and the few times it did happen while I was hooked up to the monitor no one was there, but I saw what it looked like and made the image.

I followed up with my normal doctor the next day and she said skipped beats were normal. However, everything I've been reading about skipped beats or PVC's leads me to believe something different is going on in my case. Does anyone have any insight on this because I'm pretty scared?

  • Definitely looks like a PVC ( Premature Ventricle Contraction) and they are normal in arrythmias. If what you have shown us is a 60 sec strip, then your heart beat is at a Sinus Bradycardia which means less than 60 beats per mins. In counting your strip remember not to include PVC when measuring your heart rate.

by the looks of it , looks like Sinus Bradycardia with PVC. The pause you ecounter would have to be measure with the strip.

  • @dahwaterboy1 Actually the heart rate is around 90-100 I guess the way I made the sound and the image can be a bit confusing. The sound consists of 3 normal beats at normal rhythm then the pause and skip of one whole beat, then 3 more normal beats at normal rhythm and then I looped the sound to play again, which can be heard when the ambient sound drops out.

  • the 5 deadly rhythms are

    1. Second Degree Heart Block type 2

    2. Third Degree Heart Block

    3. Ventricle Fibrillation

    4. Ventricle Tachycardia

    5. Asystole (which is flat line)

you have neither, so your ok, remember everyone's heart beat beats differently. but if you still have doubts, see a physician if necessary, I'm no doctor but studied a EKG Course .

  • seems like PVCs to me, too. however, here's the disclaimer: i am not a doctor.

appears as if it could be sinus beats, extrasystole (PVC) followed by compensatory pause (which is normal but would take way too long to explain here -> google refractory time / compensatory pause) which allows the heart to fill to the max. which results in the feeling of a "big beat" after the pause.

it's quite common for PVCs to occur in patterns, e.g. trigeminus. i've got that, too.
