So if you knew my brother then you would know he makes some pretty cool real robots, so I decided to show him I can also make a robot. :)

Watch the video in high quality. Just click on "watch in high quality' just above the View count.

This is my second attempt at 3D tracking (match moving) using Maya Live. As a hobby I have taught myself how to use several programs to make this video.

I completed the modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, and tracking in Maya 7.0 (the Mini Cooper Model was provided by 3d02 in Issue 98 of 3D World Magazine). Then I rendered the scene in several layers. Next I used Adobe After Effects to edit the video layers to better fit the original footage. Finally, Adobe Audition was used to edit and composite the sounds.

I hope you enjoy it!

  • i really want to do this but i havent had time to experiment lately with maya 2010 because of my busy schedule.

First of all, when you did the motion tracking with maya, did you import a sequence or a video file? I have heard about video nodes (whatever that means)

i played around with maya for 3 days and i did a face already and added joints to it. Now im trying to do face tracking with it. I guess all those tutorials out there did help me :D

I just need to know a little more hehe

  • @radzuky It has been awhile since I made this and used Maya. I believe I imported a low quality version of my video into Maya 7.0 Live to do the tracking. The Maya Live tracking tutorial is a good place to start.

Also, 3D Buzz (google it) has excellent training videos for Maya.

  • Very good :)

    did you used Boujou ?

  • @BapzRR thank you for the comment :) No, I did not use Boujou but if you look at the video description I have a list of software I used.

  • The car was very well done, I couldn't tell.

  • Thank you!
