Here my dad and I are demonstrating the new plow I bought for my tractor. This was the first time I used this set-up at my mom and dad's house. This was also our first snowstorm of the season here in Ontario.

  • I'm looking to purchase the same tractor this next week. Any complaints I should know about? The plow you have.... is it the MTD/Cub Cadet plow or something else?

  • @zataralee2 Overall this is a good machine. Keep in mind though that Cub Cadet is now owned and operated by MTD corporation. They are not know for making long-lasting tractors like the real Cub were like 30 years ago. Overall it mows nice, has lots of power and is comfortable to operate. the plow works well, but the lift handle could have been made out of thicker steel. Mine has bent ever so slightly. If you use it as I do, you shouldn't really have any issues.

  • @zataralee2 A few tips if I may: use your own heavy gauge kotter pins instead of the clevis pins supplied in the kit... almost all of the supplied ones fell out after a few uses...so I replaced mine with heavier guage kotter pins. I also greased all the moving parts with wheel-bearing grease to make movement smoother. Because it is MTD, none of the joints come pre-lubed. It's easy to do and will keep rust away.

  • @zataralee2 After I made the videos, I also bought snowblower tread tires for the front wheels that are the same size as the turf-treads. It really helps with steering while plowing heavy snow and while turning around. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I say this is a good machine and it actually has more features that the entry level John Deeres.

  • Appears to be a nice setup. Are those Cub chains and wheels weights or are they a different brand? I'm looking to get a set for my Cub.

  • @csnenninger Thanks. They are in fact made for this model Cub. I bought them from the dealership. The chains, fit well but are not perfect. I had to take out one link on each side and added an adjustable link to make sure the factory locks didn't come loose. If you spec the tire size, that should be all that matters as the parts and the tractor itself is manufactured by MTD corporation.
