Repair and Polish Marble Counter Top with Dry Diamond Polishing Pads

Marble top was corroded by Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner. The project is to use our Monster 5-step dry diamond polishing pads and a Bosch variable speed grinder to remove the corrosion, and polish the marble top back to high gloss.

Marble is softer than granite. A 50 grit (or step 1 pad from a 5-step diamond polishing pad system) diamond polising pad is aggressive enough to remove the corrosion marks or heavy scratches.

When you polish with dry diamond polishing pads, be aware of the dust the polishing process will produce. You can also polish with water using the same dry diamond polishing pads or wet diamond polishing pads.

Maximum speed suitable for the diamond polishing pads is 4500 RPM. Use speed dial 1 or 2 (maximum) of the variable speed grinder when polishing. The same polishing process can be used for removing scratches on granite countertops.
