Thing is, the prophecies around those bigger cycle ends/beginnings talk about "times of change".. upheavals.. big shifts. Lot of cultures do, for that matter. But this whole "End of the World" bs that has been attached to it is totally out of modern context, had has literally jack shit to do with what the Mayans themselves talked about.

Heya Jeff.. Don't buy into the "End" nonsense with the Mayans.. (btw.. as many have said, it's supposed to be Dec 21, 2012.. yer a bit early.) The whole thing is based on incredibly shoddy scholarship plus a hefty amount of "internet bs".. Yeah, one of the cycles of the Mayan Calendar "ends" on Dec 21, 2012.. and yeah, it's one of the bigger cycles... but it's 1) far from the biggest of the cycles, and 2) not an "end".. it's literally just the same as 2011 ending... and 2012 beginning.
