The great Elvis Costello wrote this rocking song, but before it appeared on his 2002 album 'When I Was Cruel', the track was demoed in 2001 by both himself and the tandem of Susanna Hoffs & Michael Steele who, along with the rest of The Bangles, would also eventually record a proper version for their 2003 comeback LP 'Doll Revolution'.

  • Michael Steele is the sexiest Bangle, no doubt about it. Personally Hoffs leaves me cold.

  • Michael has the best smile of them all...I wish she had smiled more...

  • They are by far my two favorites. The new album is really good but Susanna is missing Michael Steele. Sweetheart of the Sun could have been a great album with both of them on it. Miss you Michael.

  • End of the day it'slike Lennon and McCartney, no Bangles w/o either of them

  • Why does everyone argue over who is the hottest. Think outside the box. Think "Bangle Sandwich." Boy, would I love to be the salami!

  • You're so accurate about putting these two together, Michael does bring out a more aware and rocking Sue, sort of like Mathew does now. The drag here is that this demo, sadly, is better than the version the Bangles put out. If they had released this with minor mixing, I'll bet it would have gotten lots of airplay. I was so looking forward to that cd, love the band but not great . There new one so far sounds just light years betters, but never the same without Michael, hope she found happy life

  • @LTF6161 You're right! It's not strange at all. The best partnerships always bring complementary, rather than identical things to the collaboration.

  • @evan90277

Maybe not so strange at all...if you think about it...really

  • @LTF6161 I'm glad someone else has noticed the strong chemistry shared by these two. A strange, simbiosis between the most "showbizy" of the Bangles-Hoffs & the most artistically accomplished-Michael. This demo shows Steele pushing Hoffs to her strenghts as a rock'n roll girl.

  • Michael is my fave...but the fact is Susanna has the "It" that a pop band needs to chart and be popular. No denying IT. I luv em both

  • The quiet Steele......deep thinking; coming to terms with sorrows of her losing both her parents with one year gap.
