  • @ngarey --- what john mcain survied is a little different than 'torture' of today...

Breaking a mans bones just to do it?

using drugs, and humiliation to get information from the #3 terrorist in the world?

MAYBE that 'humiliation' saved your sorry life.....

  • yes yes, all of ho chi minh's poetry is so amazing to me. Here was a revolutionary, on the run, imprisoned by the chinese and the french during his lifetime, and he still could sit and write in several languages of his spirit, his visions, his resolve to liberate his people from foreign occupiers. It is a resolve we Americans and especially our political leaders should heed. Polished diamonds are not easy adversaries.

  • "Hard trials turn him into a polished diamond." What an amazing line.

  • :) thank you. My grandpa passed away 4 years ago. I think he can see me, still. He's with me somehow. ^^

  • McCain was against it but now he says it's ok. I'm really amazed at his position especially since he apparently was tortured in 'Nam.

  • I am sorry to hear of your grandpa's internment at Hoa Lo prison. During the first half of the 20th century, thousands of Vietnamese patriots fighting against French rule were imprisoned and tortured there, a few to their death. I hope your grandfather did not suffer too terribly and that he is still with you today.

  • My understanding is that neither candidate condones torture. Am I wrong about that?

  • My dear grandpa was in that prison for 5 or 6 months...

  • And yet he condones torture.
