You first told the children it was a game did you not? If you instead would have asked the children to get the candy asap you might have gotten a different result?

Well seeing as the apes are adults and not children. They're minds are much more developed then that of the children. Maybe they should try using young apes?

An explanation is simple. Its found in a psych 101 class. Of course that class is retarded and I don't expect most people to have taken it.
Humans go through different learning stages. Children are in the concrete learning stage where abstract thinking is mostly turned off. This is so children can learn the basics of life like laundry and writing and non algebraic math.
Thats why this is cheating. The children predisposed that learning and are doing exactly what is best for them.

We are in more agreement than you think.
Chims are abstract in the physical.
Humans are abstract in the social.
Children are concrete learners because that is what they need to learn at that point in life. Its a survival mechanism.
The children were never ask to find it faster and are more interested in the box than the candy. Learning a tool is more important.
The chimps don't need to be asked. They are already thinking it.
We have physical vs social
concrete vs abstract
not phys vs abstract

I think were are in more agreement than you think.
Chimps are abstract thinkers in a physical world.
Humans are abstract thinkers in a social world.
Children are concrete learners. In that period of life they learn to do things the exact way they are taught because that is the kind of learning they need at that age. Its a survival mechanism. The children wern't ask to get the candy faster and the box was more interesting. A chimp is already asking it's selves how to do it faster with out prompt

The fact that children are constantly told "do this and don't that" may make children stupid. Instead of letting children think for themselves, have fun, and explore their curiosity, parents, with the help of media, cooperation, religion, government and some backwards retarded school boards, destroy the fun, exploration and curiosity of children with rules and schedules.

in reality, it just shows a mature brain shows an integrated, deeper understanding.
